Indian Coast Guard Station Pipavav exhibited exemplary responsiveness and efficiency in evacuating a critically injured fisherman from the Indian Fishing Boat named Pushkar Raj, situated approximately 50 km from the coast in the Gulf of Khambat, on April 3, 2024.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Maritime Rescue sub-center, Pipavav, swiftly diverted the ICG Interceptor Boat C-409, which was already on deployment, to the scene of the incident.
Upon arrival at the location, the Interceptor Boat established communication with the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Pushkar Raj. It was revealed that the fisherman had sustained a severe fracture in his left foot, causing his ankle to part.
Demonstrating their expertise and professionalism, the Indian Coast Guard promptly evacuated the injured fisherman from the IFB using the Interceptor Boat. The patient received initial medical treatment from the onboard ICG medical team to stabilize his condition.
Subsequently, the injured fisherman was safely transferred to a Government Hospital for further medical management. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the Indian Coast Guard, the fisherman received timely medical attention, ensuring his well-being and safety.
