The Indian Historical Records Commission (IHRC) serves as an apex advisory body on archival matters, advising the Government of India on record management and historical research. Established in 1919 and led by the Union Minister of Culture, IHRC recently launched an online competition on the MyGov portal to design its logo and motto.
Out of 436 entries received, Shri Shaurya Pratap Singh’s design was selected for both the logo and motto. The logo features lotus petals symbolizing resilience and a Sarnath pillar representing India’s rich past. Brown color theme underscores the organization’s mission of preserving historical records.
The motto, “Where history is preserved for the future,” encapsulates IHRC’s commitment to identifying, collecting, and maintaining historical documents. Consolation prizes were awarded to entries by Ms. Manaswee Chandwaskar, Ms. Deepika Mandal, Ms. Nonanda Verma, Ms. Shivanshi Chauhan (logo) and Ms. Jasneet Kaur, Naresh Agrawal, Shri Raju Chatterjee, Shri Rinkal (motto). The winning entry receives Rs. 50,000, while consolation prizes are Rs. 5,000 each.
