The Indian Railways has recorded a significant increase in its earnings in the passenger segment during the period of April to January 2023. With total earnings of Rs. 54733 crores, the railway system has seen a growth of 73% compared to the same period last year.
The reserved passenger segment saw an increase in both the number of passengers booked and the revenue generated. The total number of passengers booked was 6590 lakhs, a 7% increase from the previous year. The revenue generated from the reserved passenger segment was Rs. 42945 crore, a 48% increase from the previous year.
The unreserved passenger segment saw an even more impressive increase in both the number of passengers booked and revenue generated. The total number of passengers booked was 45180 lakhs, a 128% increase from the previous year. The revenue generated from the unreserved passenger segment was Rs. 11788 crore, a 361% increase from the previous year.
These figures show the positive impact of Indian Railways’ efforts to improve its services and attract more passengers. With a continued focus on providing a better experience for its customers, Indian Railways is set to see even more growth in the future.
