STOCK MARKETS CLOSE:
- Indian benchmark indices ended lower on March 20, snapping a two-day winning streak, with Nifty closing around 17,000.
- At close, Sensex was down 360.95 points or 0.62% at 57,628.95, and Nifty was down 111.60 points or 0.65% at 16,988.40.
- Among the top losers on Nifty were Bajaj Finserv, Adani Enterprises, Bajaj Finance, Hindalco Industries, and Wipro, while the gainers were HUL, BPCL, ITC, Grasim Industries, and Nestle India.
- All sectoral indices, except FMCG, ended in the red, with realty, capital goods, IT, metal, and PSU Bank down 1-2 percent.
- The BSE midcap and smallcap indices both shed 1 percent each.

In the latest market update at 1 PM, benchmark indices continued to fall with Nifty slipping below the 16900 mark. The Sensex registered a decline of 888.25 points or 1.53% at 57,101.65, while the Nifty witnessed a drop of 264.00 points or 1.54% at 16,836. The market breadth was negative with 2454 shares declining, 846 shares advancing, and 107 shares remaining unchanged.

- At 09:16 IST, Sensex falls 406.45 points or 0.70% to 57,583.45, while Nifty falls 120.30 points or 0.70% to 16,979.70.
- Adani Enterprises, Hindalco Industries, TCS, Infosys, and IndusInd Bank were among the major losers on the Nifty.
- Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, BPCL, Divis Laboratories, Titan Company, and ONGC were among the gainers on the Nifty.
- The high for the day was at 57,829.23 and the low was at 57,263.93 for Sensex.
