International Nurses Day 2024: International Nurses Day 2024 was observed with reverence and gratitude at the Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (R&R) on 11 May 2024. Maj Gen Kanwarjit Singh, Offg Commandant of Army Hospital, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, alongside Maj Gen Sheena P D, Principal Matron, who extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees.
The significance of nurses in society was underscored as the event commemorated the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, marking nurses’ enduring contributions. The theme for this year, ‘Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power of Care,’ was unveiled by Maj Gen I D Flora, Addl DGMNS, aligning with the global celebration led by the International Council of Nurses.
To enrich the occasion, a thought-provoking debate on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Nursing: Boon or a Bane’ and a panel discussion on the theme ensued. Eminent panelists delved into various topics, addressing challenges, empowering nurses, leadership roles, digitalization in healthcare, and more.
Acknowledging excellence, the Chief Guest felicitated panelists and awarded meritorious Nursing Officers with Appreciation certificates. Capt Deepa Shajan received the prestigious Pushpnaranjan Award, symbolizing outstanding dedication and service.
In his address, the Chief Guest commended Military Nursing Officers for their tireless efforts, urging them to maintain professional standards and compassion. The event served as a tribute to nurses’ unwavering commitment and empathy in providing care to patients, reflecting the ethos of the nursing profession.
