Jagdeep Dhankhar Will Attend The 61st Convocation Of ICAR–IARI On 24th Feb.

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), also known as the ICAR-IARI, is a premier agricultural research and education institution in India. It provides leadership to the National Agricultural Research System and is dedicated to advancing agricultural research, education, and extension.

IARI is set to host its 61st convocation on February 24, 2023, at its campus in New Delhi. The event will be graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including the Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, who will serve as the Chief Guest. As Guests of Honour, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar Ji, and Ministers of State, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Kailash Chaudhary and Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, will also be in attendance.

Over 400 students from countries such as Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania, will receive their degrees on this occasion, including M.Sc., M.Tech., and Ph.D. students. The selected M.Sc. Agriculture students will be awarded the NABARD-Professor VL Chopra Gold Medal and the Best Student of the Year recognition by the Chief Guest. and students with a Ph.D.

The convocation program will be a five-day event, starting on February 20, with merit medal presentations by M.Sc. and Ph.D. students from 26 disciplines of six schools. The event will also include presentations by professors, lectures by IARI awardees, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Lecture.

The presence of prominent figures such as the current and former Directors General, Deputy Directors General, Assistant Directors General of the ICAR, former Directors and Deans of the Institute, Project Director (WTC), Heads of Divisions, and Professors, will add to the prestige of the event. The convocation will be streamed online through virtual mode on the Institute’s YouTube channel, making it accessible to a wider audience.

The 61st convocation of ICAR-IARI promises to be a grand event, showcasing the achievements and hard work of the students, as well as the institute’s commitment to advancing agricultural research and education in India.
