Tihar Jail Counters AAP Claims on Arvind Kejriwal’s Weight Loss, Health

Tihar Jail has responded to claims made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s weight loss during his imprisonment, stating that he has only lost 2 kg, contrary to AAP’s assertion of an 8.5 kg loss.

According to Tihar Jail, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal weighed 65 kg when he entered prison on April 1 and maintained a weight of 66 kg from April 8 to 29. Following a 21-day bail period, upon his return to prison on June 2, his weight measured 63.5 kg. As of July 14, his weight was recorded at 61.5 kg, indicating a total weight loss of 2 kg during his confinement.

The jail administration further refuted AAP’s claims that Mr. Kejriwal’s health was deteriorating, asserting that he is under constant monitoring by an AIIMS medical board. They dismissed allegations that his sugar levels had dangerously dropped, mentioning that such episodes were managed appropriately.

In response to AAP’s statements, senior party leaders Atishi and Sanjay Singh expressed concerns about Mr. Kejriwal’s health, citing reported hypoglycemic incidents. Atishi highlighted instances where his sugar levels purportedly fell to critical levels, alleging endangerment by the BJP.

However, Tihar Jail authorities maintained that Mr. Arvind Kejriwal’s health is stable and any weight loss was voluntary, as he reportedly returned portions of his meals despite receiving home-cooked food.

The administration concluded by submitting a detailed report to the Delhi Government’s Home Department, denouncing AAP’s narrative as misleading and aimed at confusing the public regarding Mr. Kejriwal’s well-being.

The conflicting statements between Tihar Jail and AAP highlight ongoing political tensions and concerns over Mr. Kejriwal’s health, underscoring the complexities of his imprisonment and the narratives surrounding it.
