A four-story building in Jaipur, Rajasthan, collapsed under the weight of heavy rains yesterday. Shocking footage on social media shows the structure crumbling during the storm. Local authorities had evacuated approximately 15 people before the collapse. Following the incident, the administration demolished the remaining structure to prevent further accidents.
Flooding and Disruption
The collapse is part of a broader issue, as heavy rains have severely disrupted life in Jaipur. Roads have been inundated, leading to significant traffic jams across the city. The Jaipur Meteorological Centre forecasts that heavy rainfall will persist in Jaipur and neighboring regions, including Bharatpur, Kota, and Ajmer.
Emergency Response
The situation has led to flood-like conditions in Karauli and Hindaun towns. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have evacuated around 100 people from affected areas to safety. Joint Secretary of the Disaster Management Department, Bhagwat Singh, confirmed these emergency measures.
Continued Rainfall Warnings
Heavy and very heavy rainfall is expected to continue in eastern Rajasthan over the next four to five days. The ongoing weather conditions have intensified the risk of further flooding and structural damage, prompting ongoing vigilance and response efforts by local authorities.
