The makers of “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi,” directed by Sharan Sharma and starring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, unveiled the film’s first single, “Dekha Tenu,” on Wednesday. The song title pays homage to the iconic lines from the Bollywood classic “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” song “Shava Shava,” adding a contemporary twist to the Y2K melody.
Composed and penned by Jaani, with vocals by Mohammad Faiz, “Dekha Tenu” is a romantic ballad delving into the relationship between Janhvi and Rajkummar’s characters. Original creators of “Shava Shava,” including composer Aadesh Shrivastava, singer Udit Narayan, and lyricist Sameer Anjaan, are credited for the new rendition. The song offers glimpses of the film’s storyline, showcasing the titular characters’ marriage and evolving relationship.
Janhvi portrays a doctor encouraged by her husband, Rajkummar, to pursue cricket in “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi.” Janhvi’s dedication to her role involved two years of intensive cricket training, even resulting in a shoulder dislocation.
The film’s title pays homage to cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, affectionately known as “Mahi,” honoring his legacy. Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 31, “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi” promises to captivate audiences with its unique narrative and heartfelt performances.
