Jeetendra, whose screen name is his mononym, is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema. He was born Ravi Kapoor on April 7, 1942. He is also the chairman of the Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures.
Jeetendra was born Ravi Kapoor in Amritsar, Punjab to Amarnath and Krishna Kapoor, who dealt with imitation jewelry supplied to the film industry. He and his friend Rajesh Khanna attended St. Sebastian’s Goan High School in Girgaum, Mumbai, and then studied at Siddharth College in Mumbai. He was cast as Sandhya’s character’s double in the 1959 movie Navrang while supplying jewelry to V. Shantaram.
