Jitendra Singh: Government Will Promote Industry-driven Start-Ups To Create Wealth & jobs

On the 26th of February Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, emphasized the government’s efforts to promote industry-driven start-ups to create wealth and jobs in India. Speaking at the 37th Foundation Day of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) as the Chief Guest at the National Institute of Immunology in Delhi, Dr. Jitendra Singh called for equal partnership and responsibility from the industry to sustain the start-up boom.

According to the Minister, start-ups can become sustainable if the industry identifies the theme/subject/product from the beginning and invests in matching equity with the government. He assured that funds would not be a constraint under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government to promote the “Innovation Eco-System” in the country. The Minister pointed out that initiatives such as Atma Nirbhar Bharat, where India’s vaccine strategy brought together pharma, industry, and academia in a partnership, aim to have a sustainable partnership in the long run & provide a sustainable source of livelihood to India’s youth.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also mentioned that last year he had launched a Single National Portal “BioRRAP” for Biotech researchers and start-ups, offering relief for “Ease of Science as well as Ease of Business.” All those in the country who are seeking regulatory approval for biological research and development activity are catered to by the portal. The Minister added that India is poised to become a Global Bio-manufacturing Hub and will feature among the top five countries in the world by 2025.

The Minister’s call for promoting industry-driven start-ups to create wealth and jobs in India reflects the government’s commitment to encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. The government’s efforts to provide a conducive environment for start-ups, including regulatory reforms, funding, and networking opportunities, are expected to boost the start-up ecosystem and help create a self-reliant and prosperous India.
