Union Health Minister JP Nadda Reviews Ayushman Bharat Initiatives

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri JP Nadda, conducted a comprehensive review of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) with senior officials of the (National Health Authority) NHA. The meeting focused on assessing the progress, challenges, and future strategies of these pivotal healthcare initiatives.

JP Nadda: Salient Features and Milestones:

During the review, a detailed presentation highlighted the key features and achievements of the schemes. The Ayushman Bharat initiative has issued 34.7 crore Ayushman Cards and facilitated 7.35 crore hospital admissions, amounting to over ₹1 lakh crore. NHA presented plans to enhance the network of empanelled hospitals and improve engagement strategies to ensure effective service delivery.

Salient Features and Milestones:

Emphasizing the vision of universal health coverage set forth by the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Nadda stressed the importance of reaching the most vulnerable sections of society. He directed officials to address implementation challenges promptly in coordination with states, underscoring the need for seamless coordination and resolution of issues.

Enhancing Beneficiary Outreach and Feedback:

JP Nadda advocated for a bottom-up approach to strengthen Ayushman card creation, particularly in urban areas. He encouraged the adoption of flexible and agile systems to streamline beneficiary enrollment processes. Furthermore, he highlighted the use of smart technology tools to gather direct feedback from beneficiaries, aiming to enhance healthcare service delivery based on their experiences.

Fraud Prevention and Digital Innovations:

The review also covered NHA’s efforts in fraud detection and prevention, which have significantly boosted scheme efficiency. JP Nadda was briefed on the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), developed in collaboration with IRDAI, to facilitate paperless claims settlement. This platform integrates 33 insurance companies, covering 99% of the insurance market, and provides real-time claim status updates to citizens via mobile platforms.
