Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh (Rtd.), inaugurated a new flight connecting Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, and Jamshedpur on January 31st, 2023. Indian Air will operate the route and increase operations to daily flights starting February 1st, 2023, under the RCS-UDAN scheme.
Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation emphasized the significance of connecting three important cities from three different states and highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision of providing air connectivity to every corner of the country.
He also acknowledged the growth of the aviation sector in India, which has increased the number of operational airports from 74 to 147 and will soon reach 148 with the inauguration of the Shivamogga airport in Karnataka in February 2023.
The Minister also spoke about the central government’s efforts in developing civil aviation infrastructure in Jharkhand, including the inauguration of a second airport in Deoghar and investments in Dumka and Bokaro airports. He congratulated IndiaOne Air and expressed that this new connectivity will greatly improve communication and boost economic activities in the region.
The inauguration was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Shri Hemant Soren, CM of Jharkhand, Shri Banna Gupta and Shri Satyanand Bokta, both ministers of Jharkhand, and CEO of IndiaOne, Shri Arun Kumar Singh.
The event was also attended by Shri Asangba Chuba Ao, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and other officials from the Ministry, the government of Jharkhand, AAI, and IndiaOne.
