An Indian actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, playback singer, television presenter, and politician who works mainly in Tamil cinema, Kamal Haasan was born on 7 November 1954. He is an influential actor and filmmaker in the Tamil film industry. He has also been credited with introducing many new technologies and cosmetics to the Indian film industry.
He has won numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and 20 Filmfare Awards. He has been awarded the Kalaimamani Award in 1984, the Padma Shri in 1990, the Padma Bhushan in 2014, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Chevalier) in 2016.
Early life:
Haasan was born on seven November 1954 to D. Srinivasan, who was a lawyer and freedom fighter, and Rajalakshmi, who was a housemaker. Haasan’s original name was Parthasarathy.
Kamal Haasan’s father later changed his name. His brothers, Charuhasan and Chandrahasan, both born in 1930 and 1936 respectively, have also acted. Nalini (born 1946), Haasan’s sister, is a classical dancer. He received his primary education in Paramakudi before moving to Madras (now Chennai) because his brothers pursued their higher education there.
