Yesterday, newly elected BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut alleged that she was slapped by a CISF constable at Chandigarh airport. The incident reportedly took place in the security check area when Ms. Ranaut was en route to Delhi around 3:30 pm.
The Alleged Assailant
The CISF constable involved in the incident has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur. Ms. Kaur’s mother participated in the 2020-21 farmers’ protest against the now-scrapped farm laws, and her brother is a farmer. Ms. Kaur reportedly harbored resentment towards Ms. Ranaut for her December 2020 comment implying people joined the protest for as little as ₹100.
Immediate Actions Taken
Following the incident, Kulwinder Kaur was suspended, and a first information report (FIR) was filed against her. The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral on the internet, showing the actress-turned-politician being physically assaulted by the female CISF official.
Kangana Ranaut’s Statement
Upon reaching Delhi, Kangana Ranaut shared a video addressing the incident. She reassured her followers that she was safe and recounted the event: “What happened at Chandigarh airport, it happened during the security check.
As soon as I finished the check, a CISF personnel in another cabin waited for me to cross her & instantly came towards me & hit me on my face. She also abused me. When I asked her why she did this, she replied that she supported the farmers’ protest. My concern is the terrorism growing in Punjab; how do we handle that?”
This incident follows Kangana Ranaut’s recent election victory from the Mandi seat in the Lok Sabha Election 2024, marking her debut in politics.
