Kaziranga Traffic Update: Assam CM Allows Normal Vehicle Movement

Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced the relaxation of traffic restrictions in the Kaziranga section of the national highway, owing to improvements in the overall flood situation in the region.

Effective immediately, light motor vehicles and buses will be allowed to travel through the Kaziranga area under normal conditions, albeit with speed restrictions in place. This decision aims to facilitate smoother movement for commuters and residents navigating through the affected area.

However, in consideration of ongoing safety measures and to manage potential risks, trucks will only be permitted to move in convoy. This precautionary measure is intended to ensure the orderly passage of heavy vehicles while minimizing disruptions and hazards along the national highway.

The easing of traffic restrictions comes as a relief to the local populace and travelers navigating through the Kaziranga region, known for its wildlife sanctuary and sensitive ecological landscape. The Chief Minister’s directive reflects ongoing efforts to balance mobility needs with safety concerns during challenging environmental conditions.

As floodwaters recede and conditions continue to improve, authorities will monitor the situation closely to make further adjustments as necessary. Residents and commuters are advised to adhere to traffic guidelines and updates provided by local authorities to ensure safe and efficient travel through the affected areas.

The Assam government remains committed to managing flood-related challenges effectively, ensuring the well-being of residents, and maintaining essential services amidst natural adversities.
