The Kerala police have initiated legal action against Union Minister of State, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, following allegations of making statements that promote enmity between different groups. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) filed a formal complaint with the Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) against Minister Chandrasekhar, accusing him of propagating a baseless international conspiracy theory and hate propaganda in relation to the Kalamassery blast incident. Subsequently, a case has been registered against him and Anil Antony, a BJP supporter tasked with discrediting the Kerala state.
This controversy erupted when Minister Chandrasekhar, on a social media platform, attributed blame to a specific community for the multiple blasts at a Christian gathering near Kochi. The tragic incident resulted in the loss of three lives and left more than 50 people injured. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan strongly criticized Chandrasekhar’s online post during a press conference, labeling the statements made by the BJP leader as indicative of an “absolute communal outlook.”
Since then, both leaders have engaged in a heated exchange of verbal confrontations, with the BJP leader referring to the Chief Minister as a “liar,” while the Chief Minister has condemned the Minister as “extremely venomous.”
