In a significant stride towards furthering the development agenda in Uttar Pradesh, the recent cabinet meeting convened at Lok Bhavan under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has paved the way for numerous landmark initiatives. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced the approval of a substantial Rs 1751 crore incentive over 15 years to Samsung India as part of a mega project, showcasing the state’s commitment to fostering industrial growth. The same formula was applied to provide incentives over a ten-year period to LG India, which holds an investment of Rs 567 crore.
The cabinet’s endorsement of the foreign direct investment policy signifies a significant move towards bolstering the investment climate in Uttar Pradesh. With a total investment of Rs 9400 crore through FDI, the state has implemented a policy aiming to augment FDI, including exemptions in land purchase and stamp duty for investments exceeding Rs 100 crore.
In a gesture aimed at benefiting the citizens, the Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh are slated to receive free gas cylinders on the occasion of Diwali. A staggering count of 17,504,385 beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme stands to benefit from this announcement, significantly impacting households across the state.
Additionally, the cabinet approved a new molasses policy, allocating 19% molasses to distilleries producing country liquor, aligning with regulatory changes in the state.
The meeting witnessed nods for a range of structural advancements, including the operation of polytechnics and ITIs on a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the merger of various departments for efficient functioning, and the establishment of new state universities in Mirzapur, Devipatan, and Moradabad divisions.
“Furthermore, decisions concerning the return of land to educational institutions, such as the Murtaza Higher Secondary School in Rampur, the establishment of a new prison in Kushinagar, and the promotion and expansion of the Dial 112 project, underscore the multifaceted scope of the approvals made in this comprehensive cabinet meeting”.
