Kolkata Weather: Rainfall is on the horizon for South Bengal, with Kolkata weather taking center stage in the upcoming weather forecast. The looming Cyclone ‘Michaung’ in the Bay of Bengal is anticipated to usher in three days of rain across the districts of South Bengal, albeit with a relatively mild impact.
As Cyclone ‘Michaung’ inches closer to the South Andhra coast, its influence has already set off stormy rains in various areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The cyclone’s potential to extend its impact along the east coast of South India raises concerns about heavy rain in multiple states, particularly on Monday, leading up to the anticipated landfall on Tuesday.
The Alipore Meteorological Department has indicated that the cyclone’s effect will trigger rain in South Bengal starting Tuesday. Coastal districts such as South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, West Medinipur, and Jhargram may experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The remaining southern districts, including Kolkata, are likely to witness rainfall starting Wednesday and continuing through Thursday and Friday.
Kolkata weather forecast extends beyond the coastal districts, encompassing Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Bankura, North 24 Parganas, East Burdwan, and Nadia, all potentially experiencing light rain. Meteorologists anticipate a gradual reduction in rainfall from Saturday onward.
In addition to precipitation, the rain is expected to bring a slight increase in temperatures across South Bengal. Monday saw Kolkata’s temperature rise five degrees above normal, with a minimum morning temperature of 21.3 degrees Celsius. This weather pattern is anticipated to persist in the coming days, creating a dynamic and potentially warmer climate in the region.
