Konkona Sensharma Shares Nostalgic Pictures from Mother’s Film ‘Sati’

In a delightful throwback moment, actor Konkona Sensharma recently shared some nostalgic pictures from her mother Aparna Sen’s acclaimed 1989 film ‘Sati,’ which featured the legendary Shabana Azmi in the lead role. The images were initially posted by a fan on X (formerly Twitter), who expressed excitement upon discovering young Konkona in the film.

The fan shared a couple of pictures, one of which included Shabana Azmi in the background, and captioned it: “Omg you guys it’s Bebe @konkonas and the fourth picture is cinema herstory with two fabulous people in one frame.” Konkona, equally thrilled, re-shared the pictures with the caption, “Haha love this!! It’s from my mum’s film Sati with the legend @AzmiShabana.”

The shared images depict a young Konkona dressed in a pink saree, adorned with a nose ring, bangles, and earrings, looking adorable as she performs her role in the film. ‘Sati’ tells the story of Uma, a mute woman played by Shabana Azmi, who is married off to a banyan tree due to astrological beliefs suggesting her husband would die. Aparna Sen’s feminist perspective in the film garnered significant critical acclaim. The film also starred Arun Banerjee alongside young Konkona.

On the professional front, Konkona Sensharma was last seen in the series ‘Killer Soup,’ which premiered on Netflix in January. The series, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, features Konkona as Swathi Shetty, a budding cook whose dream of the world savoring her soup leads to a series of mishaps and frantic cover-ups.

Looking ahead, Konkona will be appearing in ‘Metro…In Dino,’ co-starring Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film, anticipated by fans, continues to build excitement for its release.
