During his visit to Tamil Nadu, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar inaugurated several Khadi and Village Industries (KVI) activities, including a Khadi Karigar Sammelan at SITRA, Coimbatore. He emphasized the role of Khadi in combating poverty, promoting rural development, and empowering women.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Shri Kumar highlighted the event’s significance as a heartfelt interaction with rural artisans. He honored outstanding spinners and weavers, distributed tools to Wood Craft artisans, and unveiled a booklet showcasing PMEGP beneficiaries’ success stories. Shri Kumar lauded Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that Khadi now symbolizes ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and is a weapon against poverty.
Under PMEGP, a flagship MSME scheme, Shri Kumar noted impressive growth in Khadi production and sales, along with increased employment opportunities. Tamil Nadu’s Khadi institutions registered notable achievements, providing continuous employment to thousands. Shri Kumar inaugurated PMEGP units, interacted with artisans, and visited key Khadi establishments, reaffirming KVIC’s commitment to uplifting rural economies through sustainable employment opportunities.
