Lok Sabha Election: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a decisive move in Maharashtra’s political arena by nominating Narayan Rane as its candidate for the Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. This announcement effectively resolves the ongoing tussle between Rane and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.
Uday Samant, the state minister of industries, confirmed at a press conference that Kiran Samant, his brother, has relinquished his claim on the Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri seat, paving the way for Rane’s candidacy.
The Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri constituency has traditionally been under the control of the undivided Shiv Sena, with Vinayak Raut serving as its representative for the past two terms. However, with the split within the Shiv Sena, the political landscape has shifted, with voters increasingly favoring the BJP.
Notably, Narayan Rane himself is a former member of the undivided Shiv Sena, adding another layer of complexity to the political dynamics in the region.
The BJP’s decision to nominate Rane for the Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri constituency brings an end to the speculations and tensions surrounding the seat. There were rumors of a confrontation between the Shiv Sena and Rane over the constituency, particularly after Rane’s son Nilesh was defeated by Vinayak Raut in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
This development marks a significant shift in Maharashtra’s political landscape and sets the stage for an intriguing contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
