Bihar: The opposition’s INDIA bloc in Bihar has unveiled its seat-sharing formula for the impending Lok Sabha Elections, setting the stage for a fierce electoral battle. Under the arrangement, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will contest 26 out of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats, demonstrating its pivotal role in the coalition.
Accompanying the RJD, the Congress party will field candidates in nine seats, while the Left parties secure five seats, solidifying the alliance’s comprehensive representation across Bihar. This strategic distribution aims to maximize opposition prospects and counter the formidable NDA alliance.
In the previous 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress managed to secure only one seat, while both the RJD and Left parties failed to make electoral gains in Bihar. In contrast, the NDA alliance, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United), clinched 33 seats collectively, with the remaining seats secured by the undivided Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
In response, the NDA coalition, comprising BJP, JD-U, and LJP, has solidified its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming polls. The BJP will contest 17 seats, with JD-U vying for 16 seats, while the Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will pursue five seats, consolidating their electoral strategy.
Furthermore, other regional players like the Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) will contest one seat each, adding depth to the opposition’s lineup.
With the seven-phase Lok Sabha Elections commencing on April 19 and results slated for June 4, the stage is set for a high-stakes electoral showdown in Bihar. The INDIA bloc’s seat-sharing formula underscores their collective resolve to challenge the NDA alliance’s dominance and reshape the political landscape of the state.
