Lok Sabha Elections 2024: In a bid to combat the spread of misinformation and uphold the integrity of the electoral process, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a ‘Myth vs Reality Register’ as part of the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Shri Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, unveiled the initiative at Nirvachan Sadan, New Delhi.

Accessible through the Election Commission’s official website (https://mythvsreality.eci.gov.in/), the ‘Myth vs Reality Register’ will continuously update its factual Matrix to include the latest debunked fakes and fresh FAQs. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the ECI’s efforts to safeguard the electoral process from misinformation.

During the press conference announcing the schedule for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar highlighted misinformation as one of the challenges to electoral integrity. With misinformation and false narratives becoming a global concern, the ECI’s proactive initiative aims to provide voters with accurate and verified information throughout the electoral process.

The ‘Myth vs Reality Register’ serves as a comprehensive repository of factual information, dispelling myths and falsehoods circulating during the election period. Covering areas such as EVM/VVPAT, Electoral Roll/Voter Services, and Conduct of Lok Sabha Elections, the register empowers voters to make informed decisions.

Designed in a user-friendly format, the register provides already debunked election-related fake information, probable myths circulating on social media platforms, FAQs on important topics, and reference material under different sections for all stakeholders. It will be regularly updated to ensure accuracy and relevance.

All stakeholders are encouraged to verify any dubious information received through any channel with the information provided in the register. The platform enables users to verify information, prevent the spread of misinformation, debunk myths, and stay informed about key issues during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Users can also share information on different social media platforms directly from the register.
