Amid swirling allegations, election officials in Nashik conducted a scrutiny of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s luggage on Thursday. This move follows recent claims by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, suggesting that the CM had transported cash-filled bags via helicopter.
Officials meticulously inspected Eknath Shinde’s luggage upon his arrival at a helipad in Nashik, aiming to ascertain the veracity of the allegations. However, their efforts yielded no incriminating evidence. “I carry this much luggage. It contains my clothes. I have brought bags even today,” Shinde asserted, vehemently refuting Raut’s accusations.
Eknath Shinde’s presence in Nashik was part of his campaign efforts to solicit support for Hemant Godse, the sitting MP, whom the Shiv Sena has renominated for the upcoming elections. Engaging with constituents, Shinde participated in a spirited motorcycle rally, underscoring the party’s commitment to grassroots campaigning and community outreach.
Despite the political fervor surrounding the allegations, Eknath Shinde remained steadfast in his denial, emphasizing the innocuous nature of his luggage contents. As the electoral landscape intensifies in Maharashtra, such incidents serve as a reminder of the heightened scrutiny and accountability incumbent upon public figures during election season.
