Train Incident: A significant mishap unfolded in Ajmer, Rajasthan, as four bogies of the Sabarmati-Agra Superfast Express derailed after colliding with a goods train. The Train Incident, which occurred at Madar Railway Station around 1:04 am on Monday, March 18, resulted in numerous passenger injuries. Despite immediate brake application by the loco pilot, the collision could not be averted.
Authorities reported that the collision caused the derailment of four general coach bogies along with the engine. Upon receiving news of the Train Incident, relief teams promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to hospitals. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, although some passengers sustained injuries. The wounded individuals have been transported to Ajmer station for medical care.
“Eyewitnesses recounted the abruptness of the accident, stating that they were sleeping when a loud noise startled them, followed by the derailment of the bogies. Security personnel, including the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), alongside senior officers, are actively involved in rescue operations. Efforts are ongoing to reposition the derailed coaches and engines back onto the track”.
Additionally, North Western Railways has issued helpline numbers to aid passengers affected by the incident. Railway officials and employees swiftly initiated track repair work, and restoration efforts are currently underway. While six train services were disrupted, railway authorities are implementing preventive measures to mitigate such incidents in the future.
