On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath embarked on a visit to Hathras, where he participated in the Nari Shakti Vandana program at Bagla Degree College. During this visit, he unveiled a significant initiative aimed at furthering women’s empowerment in the state. The government of Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has pledged to provide 30% reservation in women police recruitment examinations. This move underlines the commitment of the government to promote gender inclusivity, enhance women’s safety, and empower them with opportunities in law enforcement.
A Step Toward Inclusivity
The decision to offer 30% reservation in police recruitment examinations is a pivotal step towards making the police force more diverse and gender-inclusive. It reflects a recognition of the importance of having a well-represented female presence in law enforcement agencies, facilitating enhanced safety and accessibility for women across the state.
CM Yogi’s Vision for Women’s Safety and Empowerment
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath used this occasion not only to announce the groundbreaking reservation but also to address various aspects of his government’s achievements and vision. He emphasized the transformation occurring in Uttar Pradesh, with the state making remarkable strides in development. He highlighted that approximately 55 lakh residents have been provided with homes, and free electricity connections have been distributed. Additionally, he drew attention to the success of the PM Ayushman Scheme, which has benefited around 10 crore people.
One of the most significant achievements CM Yogi pointed out was the distribution of free vaccines worth Rs 220 crore during the challenging period of the COVID-19 crisis. This initiative ensured that the people of Uttar Pradesh had access to crucial vaccinations, further enhancing their health and well-being.
Empowering Women and Enhancing Safety
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath didn’t shy away from discussing the state’s past challenges. He noted that prior to 2017, Uttar Pradesh had been plagued by issues, with an atmosphere of chaos prevalent. Of particular concern was the safety of women, who were not experiencing the protection and security they deserved. However, he proudly emphasized that under the BJP government, sisters and daughters in Uttar Pradesh now feel safer and more secure.
“This commitment to women’s safety and empowerment is not a recent development. In June, CM Yogi had already made substantial strides by announcing a 20% reservation for female candidates in UP Police Recruitment 2023. Additionally, he revealed plans to form a Ladies Battalion, furthering the government’s dedication to protecting and respecting women”.
CM Yogi’s leadership has yielded positive outcomes. Before 2017, the state had only 10,000 women personnel in UP Police, but this number has surged to an impressive 40,000, showcasing the commitment to bolstering women’s participation in law enforcement.
“The 30% reservation in police recruitment examinations is another notable stride towards gender inclusivity and empowerment. It signifies a resolute commitment to making Uttar Pradesh a safer and more equitable place for all, reinforcing the state’s dedication to the welfare and progress of its citizens, particularly women”.
