The Khadi Fest- 23 was inaugurated by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi, and Village Industries Commission, and will run from January 27 to February 24, 2023, at the KVIC Headquarters in presence of Shri Vineet Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC and other senior officials at Mumbai.

In his inaugural address, Shri Kumar said that KVIC has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing livelihood to the most backward and poorest people of this country. He said that events and exhibitions like Khadi Fest provide a platform for the Khadi Institutions, PMEGP, and SFURTI units to market the products of thousands of artisans directly to the hands of customers.

He said that it was important to organize these types of events in larger numbers not only in other parts of the country but also in other countries.

After Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave a speech urging people to buy Khadi and Village Industries products, sales have increased more than expected, said KVIC Chairman. He appealed to the nation to convert the vision of “Vocal for Local and Local to Global” into reality. The chairman motivated the officers and employees of KVIC to fulfill the responsibility of uplifting the poor people living in rural areas.

This is a living example of the highest-ever sale of more than Rs 12 crore in IITF-2022 held in Delhi in November. On 2nd October this year, Khadi India’s Delhi outlet once again created a new record of selling Khadi worth Rs 1.34 crore in a single day.

It may be noted that last year a record sale of one lakh fifteen thousand crore rupees was made for Khadi and village industries. In addition, sales of Rs. Jitendra Singh informed that Rs 3.03 crore was registered in the Khadi Fest-2022 organized on October 3.

The Chairman of KVIC appealed to everyone to give wide publicity to the Khadi Fest and purchase Khadi and village industry items in order to give the poor spinners, weavers, women, and artisans of the country respectable earnings.

He congratulated Ms. Nihunuo Sorhi, a Khadi weaver from Nagaland, for her Padma Shri award and Sant Kabir Award, and Khadi veteran Shri V P Appukuttan Poduval from Kerala, who has also been honored with the Padma Shri.

At this Khadi Fest, various Khadi and Village Industries Institutions from all around the country affiliated with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission are displaying their products for exhibit and sale.

Other Khadi and Village Industries products are available include Madhubani prints, dry fruits, tea, kahwa, beauty herbal and ayurvedic products, honey products, hand paper products, home decor products, Bamboo Products, Carpets, Aloe Vera Products, Leather Products, and many more.
