On 27th of December Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya visited Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi to review a mock drill being undertaken to ensure the readiness of hospital infrastructure for COVID-19 management.

The Union Minister stated that they had recently reviewed the COVID-19 status and preparedness for the prevention and management of COVID with State Health Ministers.

Today, mock drills are being conducted across the country to review the preparedness for the management of COVID-19. Clinical readiness at hospitals is crucial for this. Today, both government and private hospitals are carrying out mock drills. State Health Ministers are discussing the drills in their respective states, he stated.

He had an interactive session with the upper Departments and staff of Safdarjung Hospital and with the staff of “Vardhman Mahavir Medical College”.

He spent around an hour with the heads of various departments, doctors, nurses, and heads of security and sanitation services, listening with patience to their numerous suggestions on quality hospital management, clinical practices, sanitation processes, infection control measures, and patient-centered high-quality healthcare provision.

They shared their experience of working round the clock during the pandemic. Dr. Mandaviya advised the HoDs that they should meet their teams every week, undertake physical visits to all departments, and evaluate their performance to ensure the best output. The pandemic has been tough on everyone, but he praised the doctors for their exemplary work.

Everyone should be cautious and follow the COVID Appropriate Behaviour as Dr. Mandaviya said. He emphasized remaining on the alert, refraining from sharing unverified information, and ensuring a high level of preparedness. ”

As COVID cases continue to surge globally, India may soon see a rise in cases as well. He stated that it is important that the entire COVID infrastructure in terms of equipment, processes, and human resources are in a state of operational readiness.
