In a significant achievement, Meghalaya has exceeded the national average in Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), marking a milestone in the state’s commitment to providing clean and accessible water to its residents. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma shared the news, stating that Meghalaya has reached 4,71,544 FHTCs, accounting for an impressive 72.37%, which surpasses the national average of 72.1%.
The accomplishment is attributed to the relentless efforts of the Jal Jeevan Mission team in Meghalaya, whose dedication and hard work have propelled the state ahead in the mission to ensure functional tap connections in households. The Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship initiative of the government of India, aims to provide tap water to every rural household by 2024.
“Expressing his joy over the achievement, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma extended his congratulations to the entire team involved in the Jal Jeevan Mission in Meghalaya. He commended their diligence and unwavering commitment to realizing the vision of 100% FHTCs in the state”.
