Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and Minister of Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, paid a heartfelt tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary. Remembering the former President and eminent scientist, Chouhan stated, “I pay my humble tribute to the father of India’s missile program, world-famous as the Missile Man, great scientist, and former President, Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ji on his death anniversary!” He further added, “Your invaluable thoughts and ideal life will always inspire the youth to rebuild the nation and society.”
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, was an Indian aerospace scientist and statesman who significantly contributed to India’s missile and nuclear programs. His work at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) earned him the title “Missile Man of India.” Kalam played a crucial role in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 and served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Known as the “People’s President,” Dr. Kalam continued his passion for education, writing, and public service after his presidency. He received numerous awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. Dr. Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and dedication to the nation’s development. His funeral in Rameswaram was attended by thousands, including national dignitaries, honoring his profound impact on India.
