The Ministry of Coal achieves a milestone with thermal power plant coal stocks exceeding 45 million tonnes as of June 16, 2024, marking a 31.71% increase from the previous year. This surplus aims to sustain uninterrupted power supply during peak demand.
Highest Ever Coal Demand Met
Despite a 7.30% rise in coal-based power demand this fiscal year, efficient production and logistics management has ensured the highest-ever fulfillment of coal requirements, supporting national electricity needs.
Increased Coal Production and Dispatch
Cumulative coal production reached 207.48 million tonnes, up by 9.27% compared to last year. Similarly, coal dispatches a total of 220.31 million tonnes, reflecting a 7.65% growth, facilitated by enhanced operations across Coal India Limited and commercial mines.
Strategic Logistics and Coordination
Efficient logistical arrangements and inter-agency coordination, including the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Railways, play a pivotal role in maintaining a smooth coal supply chain. Infrastructure upgrades and expanded transport routes further bolster coal evacuation efforts nationwide.
