National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated every year on December 14th, 2022. The purpose is to energy efficiency and conservation.
Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil is the first woman to hold the office of the Hon’ble President of India.
The Chief Guest of the event will be Droupadi Murmu. Shri R. K. Singh, Union Minister of Power, New & bountiful Energy, will address the occasion.
The BEE, under the guidance of the Ministry of Power, recognizes and encourages energy efficiency and conservation by awarding industrial units, institutions, and establishments on National Energy Conservation Day, celebrated on December 14th every year.Shri Krishan Pal and Shri Alok Kumar, Minister of State for Power & Heavy Industries and Secretary of Ministry of Power respectively, will also be present.
The main attractions of the event will be:
- 1. National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2022
- 2. National painting competition for school children 2022
- 3. National Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards (NEEIA) 2022
- 4. Session on emerging new technologies in the area of energy efficiency
- 5. Launch of ‘EV-Yatra portal’ and mobile app
National Energy Conservation Award 2022
The Hon’ble President of India will felicitate the winners of the National Energy Conservation Awards, the National Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards, and the National Painting Competition Prizes, and will also launch the EV Yatra Portal on the occasion.

National Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards (NEEIA) 2022
NEEIA awards were started in the year 2021 to recognize outstanding work and innovative minds of India in the area of Energy Efficiency. environment and energy, natural resources, climate change, and water.
Applications are invited online for NEEIA 2022 from various categories, including environment and energy, natural resources, climate change, and water. There are two categories: Professionals from the Industries, Building, and Transport sectors and students and research scholars.
The applications for NEEIA 2022 were invited online till 27th October 2022 and a total of 177 applications have been received.

National Painting Competition 2022
The National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation, organized by the Ministry of Power, has been bringing continual change in society towards conservation and efficient use of energy since 2005.
The competition is held at three levels: school, state, and national. More than 80,000 students participated in 2021. Students of 5th, 6th, and 7th Standards will compete in Group A, while students of 8th, 9th, and 10th Standards will compete in Group B.
Launch of ‘EV-YATRA PORTAL’ and Mobile App
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has developed a mobile application to facilitate in-vehicle navigation to the nearest public EV charger, a website to disseminate information on various central and state-level initiatives to promote e-mobility in the country, & a web portal to enable CPOs to register their charging details securely into the National Online Database.
The “EV Yatra” mobile application has been designed and developed to facilitate in-vehicle navigation to the nearest public EV charger. This Mobile application can be downloaded on both iPhone and Android smartphones from the Google play store and Apple Store.
