Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday, reaffirming India’s commitment to long-term peace, stability, and security in West Asia.
Strengthening India-UAE Relations with IMEEC
During the meeting, Modi placed a special focus on the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEEC), emphasizing its potential to enhance regional connectivity and prosperity. The IMEEC aims to create a vast network of roads, railroads, and shipping routes connecting India, Saudi Arabia, the US, and Europe.
A Landmark Initiative for Regional Integration
The IMEEC, which was formalized during the G20 Summit in Delhi in September 2023, is a groundbreaking initiative that seeks to integrate Asia, the Middle East, and the West. India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the EU, the US, and other G20 partners have committed to its implementation.
Modi Highlights the India-UAE Strategic Partnership
In a post on ‘X,’ PM Modi stated that the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is set to reach “unprecedented heights.” He reiterated India’s dedication to fostering peace, security, and stability in West Asia and beyond.
UAE Foreign Minister’s Visit to India
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the UAE’s foreign minister, is currently on a three-day visit to India, further strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.
