Monsoon: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced the continued advance of the Southwest Monsoon. The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through key locations including Barmer, Jaipur, Agra, and Jammu. Conditions are favorable for further advancement into more parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu over the next two days.

Monsoon Systems Influencing Rainfall

A trough at mean sea level runs off the Maharashtra-north Kerala coasts, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation over central Gujarat. This setup, combined with strong winds from the Bay of Bengal, will influence rainfall patterns significantly.

Western and Central India

  • Light to Moderate Rainfall: Expected over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
  • Isolated Heavy Rainfall: Likely over Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Coastal Karnataka.
  • Very Heavy Rainfall: Expected over Konkan & Goa, and Coastal Karnataka.

Northwest and East India

  • Light to Moderate Rainfall: Anticipated over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
  • Isolated Heavy Rainfall: Expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana.
  • Very Heavy Rainfall: Likely over East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh.
