Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav voiced sorrow over the incident of a six-year-old child falling into a borewell in Rewa district, labeling it as tragic. Yadav assured concerted efforts by the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and district administration to ensure the child’s safe extraction.
CM Mohan Yadav, remaining in constant communication with local authorities, delegated Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla to oversee operations on-site. Emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment, Yadav pledged to leave no stone unturned in the rescue efforts.
The incident unfolded on Friday afternoon when the boy, identified as Mayur, fell into the borewell while playing with friends in harvested wheat fields. Despite attempts by fellow children, Mayur remained trapped, with rescue teams facing the challenge of a 70-foot-deep borewell, where the child is stuck at a depth of around 40 feet.
Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Sonkar highlighted the collaborative efforts of officials and rescue teams, including the deployment of JCBs and the coordination of SDRF and NDRF personnel. Despite obstacles posed by unseasonal rains, the community remains hopeful for the successful retrieval of the child as rescue operations continue fervently.
