In response to the national call from the Hon’ble Prime Minister to take action through ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’ (One Date, One Hour, Together), the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) organized a ‘Shramdaan’ event on October 1, 2023. The focus of this initiative was to contribute to a “GARBAGE FREE INDIA.” The event took place at the Development Facilitation Office in Okhla, Phase-1, New Delhi, and aimed at fostering a cleaner India.
The Ministry of MSME, together with its various organizations and field offices nationwide, actively participated in this mega Swachhata (cleanliness) drive. To raise awareness about the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign and the ‘Shramdaan’ event, banners and posters were strategically placed in prominent areas with high foot traffic.
Region-wise Nodal Officers were appointed to coordinate with sanitation, horticulture, and other civil departments of the state government to carry out sanitation activities in identified areas. These activities included sweeping roads, cleaning colony parks, and public areas. Additionally, participants engaged in plantation drives, cleanliness efforts, and sanitation activities during the one-hour ‘Shramdaan.’
The ‘Shramdaan’ was led by the Secretary of MSME, with over 200 officers and staff actively participating in the Swachhata Drive. Local citizens and office bearers of the Flatted Factory Complex in Okhla also joined the event. Together, they managed to clear approximately 25 thousand square feet of garbage from the vicinity, including the metro station and vegetable market.
Secretary(MSME) administered the ‘Swachhata Pledge’ to all officers present and encouraged participants to work towards ensuring that their neighborhoods remained free from garbage. The collective efforts aimed to transform the vision of Swachhata (cleanliness) into a tangible reality.
