Mumbai Rain: Rain Alerts for Central India
The weather department has issued both orange and yellow alerts for central India, particularly in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, and Amravati, forecasting thunderstorms and lightning in these areas. The Regional Meteorological Centre reported 43 mm of rainfall in Nagpur over 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Monday.
Mumbai Rain: Vidarbha Faces Severe Flooding
Vidarbha experienced severe flooding over the weekend, with more than 700 houses damaged and several roads inundated. In Chandrapur, seven gates of the Irai Dam were opened due to relentless rain, exacerbating the situation. Officials reported significant damage to homes, particularly in villages, over the last 48 hours.
IMD’s Rainfall Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued heavy rainfall for Maharashtra over the next three days. According to the IMD, isolated areas in Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected to follow.
