Mumbai Rains: Mumbai woke up to a deluge as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert, forecasting heavy to very heavy rains in isolated areas across the city. This weather advisory also covers Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region.
Mumbai Rain Alert:
The downpour has already caused significant waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai, including the notorious Andheri subway. Authorities have initiated water pumping operations and diverted traffic to S.V. Road to manage the situation effectively amidst the Mumbai rain chaos.
In response to the adverse weather conditions, the city authorities have issued a high tide warning, with a peak of 3.69 meters expected at 4:39 pm today. Residents are advised to exercise caution, especially during peak tide hours.
Looking ahead, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert effective from July 14 to July 16, indicating continued rainfall activity in the region. This forecast suggests that Mumbai rain woes may persist over the next few days, necessitating preparedness among residents and authorities alike.
As the situation unfolds, Mumbai Traffic Police has temporarily closed the Andheri subway due to waterlogging, redirecting traffic flow to alternative routes like S.V. Road. Commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated on further developments through official channels.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reiterated the IMD’s orange alert in its public notifications, urging Mumbaikars to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors unless necessary. For any assistance, citizens can dial 1916 for immediate help.
Amidst these weather fluctuations, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai are expected to hover around 29 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively, with high humidity levels adding to the discomfort. The IMD predicts a continuation of a generally cloudy sky with heavy rainfall until July 16, underscoring the need for vigilance and precautionary measures during this Mumbai rain episode.
