Telugu cinema’s former actress, Navneet Kaur Rana, mainly acted in Indian films. She was elected as an independent Member of Parliament (MP) from Amravati in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Kaur was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and brought up there. Her father was an army officer and her parents are of Punjabi origin of the Ravidassia Caste.

Filmy Career:-

She completed her studies up to the 10th standard at Karthika High School. She discontinued her education after finishing 12th class and began working as a model, appearing in six music videos.

In her feature film debut, Kaur appeared in Darshan, a Kannada film. Her debut in Telugu was Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi in 2004. Some of her subsequent releases are Chetna (2005), Jagapathi (2005), Good Boy (2005), and Bhuma (2008).

Other works include Kalachakram, Terror, Flash News, and the Telugu remake of the Hindi film Chameli, Jabilamma. She was a contestant on the Gemini TV reality show named Humma Humma. Rafi Martin directed the Malayalam film Love In Singapore, in which she starred in. She acted in the Punjabi film Lad Geya Pecha opposite Gurpreet Ghuggi in 2010.

Political Career:-

She tried her career as a politician in the 2014 Lok Sabha Election from Nationalist Congress Party after her marriage to Ravi Rana; however, she lost the election. Citing the reason for the loss, she stated that her competition was indirectly Narendra Modi, who had rallied for the then-winning candidate, Anandrao Adsul.

She was elected as an MP from Amravati, Maharashtra constituency in Lok Sabha Elections 2019, defeating Anandrao Adsul of Shiv Sena as an Independent candidate with the support of the Indian National Congress and Nationalist Congress Party.

She has spent Rs.65 Lakh as an independent candidate in this election, while the previous two times MP, Adsul has spent Rs.49 Lakh for a democratic process. This is considered a huge victory for an independent candidate in Shiv Sena’s neglected fortress in Vidarbha.

On 3 February 2011, she married Ravi Rana, an independent MLA from Badnera constituency in Amravati city, after a short hiatus from her film career. They got married along with many other couples in a mass marriage ceremony where many leaders and VIPs, including the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan and Baba Ramdev, were present to bless the newlyweds.
