NCEG Launches Web Portal for Prestigious National Awards for e-Governance 2024

On December 8, 2023, the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) marked a significant milestone with the formal launch of the web portal for the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2024. This esteemed scheme, known for promoting excellence and innovation in e-governance initiatives, plays a pivotal role in acknowledging and encouraging advancements in digital governance across the country.

Launch Ceremony:

The formal launching event was organized by DARPG and witnessed the participation of Central Ministries/Departments, Principal Secretaries (AR) and (IT), and the District Collectors/District Magistrates (DCs/DMs) from all 28 states and 8 Union Territories of India. Award winners from NAeG 2023 were also part of the ceremony, conducted in a hybrid mode, reflecting the blend of virtual and physical participation.

NCEG Web Portal Goes Live:

The web portal, accessible at www.nceg.gov.in, was made live on December 8, 2023. The official advertisement regarding the portal’s launch appeared in newspapers on December 2, 2023. The nomination submission period spans from December 8 to December 29, 2023, providing a window for deserving initiatives to be recognized.

National Awards for e-Governance Scheme:

The NAeG Scheme is renowned as one of the most competitive and prestigious awards in digital governance. Its primary objective is to acknowledge and promote outstanding implementations of e-governance initiatives, fostering innovation and excellence in the digital domain.

Awards Details:

NAeG Awards 2024 includes trophies, certificates, and incentives of Rs 10 lakh for Gold Awardees and Rs 5 lakhs for Silver Awardees. These incentives are earmarked for the utilization of the District/organization for implementing projects or addressing resource gaps in public welfare.

This year, 16 awards will be conferred, with 10 Gold Awards and 6 Silver Awards. To be eligible for nomination, the launch date of the project should fall between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2023. The project must be fully operational as of December 1, 2023.

Award Categories:

NAeG 2024 encompasses five categories, emphasizing various aspects of e-Governance:

  1. Government Process Re-engineering
  2. Application of Emerging Technologies for Citizen-Centric Services
  3. District-Level Initiative in e-Governance
  4. Study of Services Centered Around Citizens Conducted by Academic and Research Institutions.
  5. Replication of Top Technological Solutions/Initiatives

Evaluation Process:

The evaluation process involves three stages, with the initial two stages conducted by the Screening Committee and the final stage overseen by the Jury.

The launch of the web portal for NAeG 2024 signifies a commitment to recognizing and fostering excellence in e-Governance initiatives. As states, central ministries, districts, academic institutions, and startups vie for these prestigious awards, the digital governance landscape in India stands to benefit from innovative solutions and practices.
