PLFI Cadre: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a significant stride in thwarting the revival attempts of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) with the arrest of one individual in a coordinated operation across Jharkhand and Assam.
Binod Munda @Sukkhwa, an armed cadre of PLFI, was apprehended from Khunti district, Jharkhand, following extensive raids and searches conducted by NIA teams in collaboration with local police forces. The accused, wanted in four PLFI cases in Jharkhand, was found in possession of incriminating materials, including PLFI-related documents, two Walkie-Talkies, five mobile phones, SIM cards, and Rs. 11,000 in cash.
The crackdown comes in the wake of a case registered on October 11, 2023, against PLFI members, including Martin Kerkatta, for attempting to revive the outfit after the arrest of its supremo, Dinesh Gope, by NIA. PLFI’s revival activities primarily involved generating funds through extortion from coal traders, transporters, railway contractors, and businessmen across Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
Earlier arrests in the case, along with the seizure of Rs. 3 lakh cash and arms and ammunition, have further bolstered NIA’s efforts to dismantle PLFI’s network. However, investigations are ongoing to root out any remaining elements associated with the banned outfit.
The crackdown underscores NIA’s commitment to combatting organized crime and insurgency, safeguarding national security, and ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
