NITI Aayog’s Poverty Index Reveals 9.89% Decrease, Uplifting Over 13.5 Crore Individuals in India

Chief Minister of Assam, India, Himanta Biswa Sarma, recently expressed his elation at the release of NITI Aayog’s National Multidimensional Poverty Index, which revealed a remarkable 9.89% decrease in poverty levels across India. This significant milestone has uplifted over 13.5 crore individuals, highlighting the success of transformative initiatives such as Poshan Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Mission, PMAY, and others, all spearheaded by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The announcement of a nearly 10% reduction in poverty levels is a cause for celebration and demonstrates the positive impact of various government programs and policies aimed at eradicating poverty and improving the well-being of Indian citizens. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attributes this achievement to the collective efforts of initiatives like Poshan Abhiyan, which focuses on improving nutrition and maternal health, and the Swachh Bharat Mission, aimed at achieving cleanliness and sanitation across the nation.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlights the role of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a flagship housing program, in providing affordable housing to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. These initiatives, combined with others, have played a pivotal role in transforming the lives of millions of people and bringing them out of poverty.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledges the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose guidance and vision have propelled these initiatives forward. The relentless commitment and dedication of the government, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, have resulted in tangible improvements in the socioeconomic conditions of the people, ultimately leading to a significant decline in poverty levels.
