Nitin Gadkari Allocates Funds for Belgaum-Raichur Highway

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, revealed a major advancement in Karnataka by allocating a significant amount of Rs. 2675.31 crore for the expansion of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur section of National Highway-748A to a 4-lane road.

In his statement, Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized the strategic importance of this project as an integral component of the Panaji-Hyderabad EC10 corridor. This corridor, connecting pivotal industrial hubs, plays a vital role in facilitating seamless transportation and bolstering economic growth across the region.

EC10 corridor links Panaji, celebrated for its vibrant fishing industry, tourism attractions, agricultural output, and thriving pharmaceutical sector, with Belgavi, renowned for its agricultural diversity encompassing food grains, sugarcane, cotton, tobacco, oilseeds, and dairy products. The corridor further extends to Raichur, recognized for its significant contributions in rice, cotton, groundnut, and pulses cultivation, and finally, converges at Hyderabad, a hub of IT, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and burgeoning startup ecosystem in Goa, Karnataka, and Telangana states, respectively.

The sanctioned funds for the 4-laning of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur section underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure development and fostering regional connectivity. This initiative is poised to catalyze economic progress, facilitate smoother movement of goods and people, and unlock the full potential of the region’s industrial and agricultural sectors.

Minister Nitin Gadkari’s announcement heralds a new era of infrastructure advancement in Karnataka, promising improved accessibility and efficiency for residents and businesses alike. As work progresses on the 4-laning project, it is expected to significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of Bagalkot and Belgavi districts, while also strengthening the broader transportation network within the state.
