Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has recently unveiled a notable funding of Rs. 1346.81 crore for the enhancement of National Highway projects in Andhra Pradesh. These projects encompass the expansion of the current 2-Lane Paved Shoulder on National Highway-716 from the Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh border to Puttur, stretching over 20.03 Km, into a 4-lane configuration with paved shoulder.
Additionally, the widening of the existing 4-lane Paved Shoulder from Mallavaram junction to Renigunta junction (17.40 Km) on NH-71 to a 6-lane Paved Shoulder is set to take place in the districts of Chittoor and Tirupati under Package-2, utilizing the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).
Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted that these developments aim to transform the specified stretch into a fully access-controlled corridor. This expansion project is expected to play a crucial role in linking the sacred cities of Tiruthani and Tirupathi, enhancing connectivity, and facilitating smoother travel experiences for commuters.
