Rita Bahuguna Joshi was born on July 22, 1949, to the illustrious Bahuguna family. Her father, Late H. N. Bahuguna, was a prominent politician and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, while her mother, Late Kamla Bahuguna, was an ex-member of Parliament. Rita pursued her academic endeavors with great determination, earning an MA and a Ph.D. in History. She went on to become a professor of Medieval and Modern History at the University of Allahabad, a position that exemplified her passion for education and knowledge.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi embarked on her political journey with fervor, holding the prestigious position of Mayor of Allahabad from 1995 to 2000. She made significant strides in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment, earning recognition as the president of the All India Mahila Congress since 2003.
