Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stones for 26 National Highway Projects in Assam

Guwahati, [31/10/2023]: In a momentous event today, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 26 crucial National Highway projects in Guwahati, Assam. These projects, with a combined investment of over 17,500 crore rupees, are poised to revolutionize connectivity in the region, significantly boosting trade, tourism, and economic development.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of Union MoS General Shri General Vijay Kumar Singh, Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, state cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

One of the spotlight projects inaugurated is the Dibrugarh-Tinsukia-Ledo highway, set to be a game-changer for interstate connectivity between Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. This project not only enhances the strategic presence of India in the region but also promises to facilitate trade and tourism, fostering socio-economic growth.

The Silchar to Lailapur section of the National Highway holds immense significance as it connects the Barak Valley in Assam with Mizoram. This link is poised to be a catalyst for socio-economic development, offering a more direct and efficient route for trade and commerce.

Furthermore, the development of NH-515 in Dhemaji District is anticipated to greatly improve connectivity between North Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, promoting enhanced access to remote areas and enabling economic development opportunities.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his commitment to the development of a robust and well-connected road infrastructure in Assam, which is a crucial element in fostering growth and development in the region. These projects not only serve as vital arteries for transportation but also create opportunities for employment and investment.
