Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh- Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, laid the foundation stone for three crucial National Highway (NH) projects. These projects, with a combined length of 87 kilometers, aim to enhance connectivity, promote tourism, and boost economic development in the region. The total cost of these projects is estimated at Rs 2,900 Crore.
The first project, the Naidupate-Turpu Kanupur Section of NH-71, spans 35 kilometers and requires an investment of ₹1,399 Crore. This undertaking will significantly improve connectivity in the area, providing a seamless travel experience for commuters.
The second project, the Chillakuru Cross-Krishnapatnam Port South Gate Section via Turpu Kanupur on NH-516W, covers a distance of 36 kilometers and carries a value of ₹909 Crore. This project holds immense importance as it will enhance access to Krishnapatnam Port, a major economic hub in the region.
The third project, known as the Thamminapatnam-Narikellapalle Section, encompasses the extension of the Dedicated Port Road from Eupuru to Krishnapatnam Port, covering NH-516W and NH-67. This 16-kilometer extension is valued at ₹610 Crore and will provide seamless connectivity to Krishnapatnam Port, facilitating faster accessibility to National Master Plan Nodes, Industrial Nodes, and Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Nellore.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony, Nitin Gadkari emphasized that these projects aim to improve connectivity and ensure safer and more convenient travel for both devotees visiting religious destinations, such as the Shri Balaji Temple in Tirupati and the Shri Shiva Temple in Srikalahasti, as well as tourists exploring popular attractions like the Nelapatu Bird Sanctuary and SHAR at Sriharikota.
The Union Minister highlighted the government’s commitment, under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to ensure swift, seamless, and energy-efficient mobility across the entire nation. These projects align with the government’s vision and commitment to developing robust infrastructure that supports economic growth and enhances the overall well-being of the citizens.
In addition to improving connectivity and promoting tourism, these projects are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region. The increased connectivity and improved infrastructure will attract investment, spur business activities, and uplift the livelihoods of the local communities.
The foundation stone laying ceremony for these three NH projects marks a significant milestone in the development of Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure.
