Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has laid the foundation stone of the world’s largest and unique Divyang Park – Anubhuti Inclusive Park in Nagpur, Maharashtra. In accordance with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of creating an inclusive society, the park has been developed. Instead of sympathy, this park will show empathy, hence it has been named Anubhuti Divyang Park.
The park is expected to send the message of inclusion not only in India but also to the whole world. It will have facilities for all 21 types of disabilities, including a touch-and-smell garden, hydrotherapy unit, water therapy, and independent rooms for mentally challenged children and mothers.
According to Shri Gadkari, Nagpur is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and the central government passed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act in 2016 to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities. The law is aimed at giving them the right to live with dignity. The central government has already created some Divyang Parks in South India and Madhya Pradesh, and the ‘Anubhuti Inclusive Park’ is being built for disabled children and general citizens in the Pardi campus of Nagpur.
This world’s first inclusive disabled park will be built in an area of 90 thousand square feet, and a provision of about Rs 12 crore has been made by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Gov. of India. The park will have various projects for the disabled as well as for the general public and senior citizens.
The development of this park is a significant step towards promoting inclusion and ensuring that people with disabilities have equal access to public spaces. The park is expected to set an example for the world in promoting a more inclusive society and creating facilities that cater to the needs of all citizens, including those with disabilities.
