On the 23rd of February Nitin Gadkari said, “Sant Gadge Baba created social awareness by using the effective medium of Kirtan for social reform and public education. Regards to such a great modern Marathi saint and promoter of cleanliness, Sant Gadge Maharaj on his birth anniversary”’.
Sant Gadge Maharaj, also known as Sant Gadgebaba or Gadge Baba, was a revered saint and social reformer in India. He was born on February 23, 1876, in the village of Shengaon in Maharashtra, India. He spent his life in the service of the poor and marginalized, and his teachings continue to inspire people to this day.
Sant Gadge Maharaj was born into a family of farmers. His parents were deeply religious and instilled in him a love for spirituality from a young age. Gadge Baba received his early education at the village school and was a bright student. However, he dropped out of school at a young age to pursue his spiritual calling.
Sant Gadge Maharaj traveled extensively across India, visiting holy places and meeting with spiritual leaders. He spent many years living in caves and forests, meditating and practicing austerities. During this time, he had many profound spiritual experiences that deepened his faith and understanding of the divine.
Gadge Baba’s spiritual journey eventually led him to a realization that the true path of spirituality lay not in asceticism but in serving the poor and needy. He believed that God could be found in the service of humanity and that the highest form of worship was to serve others.
